A Return to the Biblical Model for the Development of Young Men

Our Model

Biblical Discipleship in the Classroom and the Field

You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Dt. 6:7

For Young Men, What Does Biblical Discipleship Look Like?

According to Jesus the Greatest Commandment is from the book of Deuteronomy chapter 6 Verses 4-7. “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And you shall teach them diligently unto your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when thou rise up” .

In Jesus’ day it was the responsibility of the parents to raise educate, train, and support their sons until they reached the age of 12 or 13. There then was a rite of passage into adulthood called the Bar Mitzvah or Son of the Law. At this age the young man was to apprentice himself to an older master for further education in (God’s Word) and/or the acquisition of a trade. The Apostle Paul, who wrote 14 of the 27 books of the New Testament had been both a Pharisee and a Tentmaker. In other words, even though he was an inspired evangelist and student of God’s Word he also possessed a skill that was in high demand during his lifetime.

We understand how necessary it is for young men to be able to have a strong relationship with our Lord; through the continual study of HIs Word, Prayer, Fellowship and Service through work. These were the core habits of the first Apostles. (Acts 2: 42-47). For students who commit to our program we mean to establish those Godly habits early and permanently as the student will allow. Where the student will go upon graduation is a decision that he will make with the counsel and direction of the Holy Spirit, but we promise; that his ‘tool belt’ will be full and that he will either know about or will have acquired the strength and security of Salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We also understand that young men need to be trained in a skill that they can use to earn their own money and become self-supporting. We therefore have combined instruction in God’s Word with on

the job training with businesses in our area. We are always looking for those opportunities for mentorship, apprenticeship and mastery. We have established relationships with fellow believers and tradesmen so our students will be able to learn and experience the benefits of hard work and service. With discipleship at Bible High we believe our students will walk in the way worthy of a disciple

of Jesus. What more could we ask of them?

Our Commitment

A Mission Statement

Bible High School is a Day & Home-Boarding School for young men, ages 14 to 18. Our objective is to train young men for a successful Christian Life by grounding them in the high moral truths of the Bible and instilling the virtues of hard work, in a setting of practical business training, industry, and athletics. Prep years will become available as students mature and desire to give back to the school community.

Our Setting

A Boarding Home for Boys

Our home boarding students will have proper home-life responsibilities, for the purpose of developing training and skills of self-reliance. Each boarding student will participate in the cooking, cleaning and laundry; along with participating in open discussions upon such subjects as creating and living on a budget, and the practical application of Deuteronomy 6 as was cited at the top of this page.

What We Believe

Statement of Faith

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God and inerrant in its original writings.
  • We believe there is One God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His birth of a virgin, His sinless nature, in His miracles, in His vicarious atonement through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection and His ascension to the right hand of the Father. He will return again in power and glory.
  • We believe in the lostness and sinfulness of man, and his need for salvation. Man's only hope may be found in the shed blood of the Lamb of God.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by who's indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved. The saved unto the resurrection of life, and the unsaved unto the resurrection of damnation.
  • We believe in the unity in all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

How We Teach

Academic Philosophy

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Sanctify them in Your truth; Thy Word is truth.

John 17:17

We believe that the training through God's word will have a lasting effect on the establishment of the virtues necessary to carry young men into and through the challenges of adulthood.

We believe that in many schools, adolescence is extended, and young adults are discouraged from learning the responsibilities that will serve them well in adulthood.

We believe that academic learning should not dominate the entire day of a young man and that after the age of 13 or 14, there should be a balance of learning through academics and learning through work and meaningful service.

We also believe that competitive athletics can be invaluable 'teacher' establishing both physical health and good social relationships.
